"I give Angela 100 stars if such a thing exists."

Don’t let anyone tell you that feeling crappy is normal; aging doesn’t mean we have to suffer or feel old. Before my cancer diagnosis, I thought I was eating 'HEALTHY' foods and doing well, but that turned out to be a big mistake after chemotherapy ended in 2000. By 2008, my hair had thinned, I gained weight, and the only way I could manage this was by practically not eating. My joint pain and arthritis intensified, I experienced headaches, sinusitis, constipation, extreme tiredness, and worsening skin eruptions and dry skin. Despite my efforts to eat and exercise, nothing seemed to work. I struggled to exercise or even walk up and down the stairs without feeling like my knees would give out. I was eating what I thought were 'healthy' foods, but after working with my nutritionist in Beaverton, Angela Hermes, RDN, LD, CLT, who specializes in autoimmune conditions, I learned that many of those foods were actually making me sick. Angela helped me navigate through various dietary elements I had never considered, and the results were astounding. Within just 2 weeks, my pain vanished! My skin conditions improved, I wasn’t as tired, I overcame constipation, and I stopped waking up with headaches. Food is indeed medicine, but how can one identify which foods are right for them? The MRT/Leap tests our blood to determine which foods are beneficial or harmful. While I know there are other methods to obtain this information, they can be slow and tedious. I didn’t want to spend time testing each item individually; this was the quickest and most accurate way to gather the right data and feel better almost immediately. I would give Angela 100 stars if I could. Thank you, Angela!

"Today, my cholesterol is 164."

About a year ago, my cholesterol was 211, which prompted me to start a plant-based diet. When I had my cholesterol checked again in early summer, it was 201, and I felt so disappointed. However, after seeing a nutritionist in Beaverton, Angela, I discovered several foods I was sensitive to, such as ginger, coconut, and broccoli. Today, my cholesterol has improved to 164, with 66 HDL, 81 LDL, and 82 triglycerides.

This shift was exactly what I was looking for by changing my eating patterns, especially considering my autoimmune conditions. I’m thrilled to see such quantitative positive reinforcement, but honestly, I generally feel really good. When I don’t feel well, I can usually trace it back to something I ate. For my system, food truly is medicine, and when I treat my diet with respect and care, I feel so much better.
